Upendo Rehabilitation Center is a children’s
home, founded in 1997 but
registered in 1999. We providde shelter and home environment for orphaned
children. Upendo(LOVE) emanated from a concern by Founder, Mrs. Eunice
Wambui Kamotho of increasing numbers of orphaned children in Kenya
and in particular Muranga district, (Mainly attributed to HIV/AIDS)
who are forced to lead a destitute life without lovce, care, or basic
needs. We are situated in the lower part of Muranga District, Kiharu
Division, Gikindu Location, Mirira Sub-location. Since 2000 Upendo
in conjuction with
other
NGOs such as SOS Children village and Koimbi Children’s Home
have supported orphaned and help them find hope and care in life.
In 1998
Upendo undertook an outreach programme to assist orphaned living with
relatives with regard to education, food and clothing. Since then we
have made remarkable progress and seen several boys and girls through
Universities and colleges.[ The

The only dormitory
accommodating fourty children aged between 1 1/2 years to 10 years

::URGENT NEEDS:: |
- Construction and equipment of an additional dormitory to accommodate at least 20 more children
- At least 8 classrooms out of 10 required for a Primary School.
- Nursery class, Pre-Primary class and classes 1 to 6 for the center and the local community.
- Borehole for drinking water and irrigation
